A callback is a return trip to fix a job that was reported as complete. Enter your job and callback counts to get the rate, and add an average cost to see what callbacks are costing you.
How it is calculated
- Callback rate = callbacks ÷ completed jobs × 100
- Total callback cost = callbacks × average cost per callback
Worked example
With the starting values shown in the calculator:
- Completed jobs: 180
- Callbacks: 9
- Average cost per callback: $140.00
- Callback rate: 5.0%
- Total callback cost: $1,260.00
- Callback cost per completed job: $7.00
Using the result
The cost of a callback is unbilled labor, drive time and any parts, plus the paying job that the technician could not run in that slot. Track callbacks by technician and by job type to find where they come from.
