First-Time Fix Rate Calculator

Calculate the share of jobs completed on the first visit.

First-time fix rate is the share of jobs resolved on the first visit, with no second trip for parts, tools, skills or information.

First-time fix rate85.0%
Jobs fixed on the first visit153
Return visits per 100 jobs15

How it is calculated

  • First-time fix rate = (completed jobs − jobs needing a return visit) ÷ completed jobs × 100

Worked example

With the starting values shown in the calculator:

  • Completed jobs: 180
  • Jobs that needed a return visit: 27
  • First-time fix rate: 85.0%
  • Jobs fixed on the first visit: 153
  • Return visits per 100 jobs: 15

Using the result

Decide what counts as a return visit and keep the definition the same every month. Record the reason for each one: part not on the truck, wrong diagnosis, not enough time, or customer not ready. The reasons tell you whether to fix truck stock, training or scheduling.
