Enter the business miles you drive in your own vehicle and a per-mile rate to see what you should be reimbursed for a day, a pay period or a month.
How it is calculated
- Reimbursement per day = business miles per day × rate per mile
- Total reimbursement = reimbursement per day × days driven
Worked example
With the starting values shown in the calculator:
- Business miles per day: 60
- Days driven: 20
- Rate per mile: $0.76
- Reimbursement per day: $45.60
- Total reimbursement: $912.00
- Total business miles: 1,200
Using the result
The default rate is the IRS business standard mileage rate, which is 76 cents per mile from July 1, 2026. It was 72.5 cents per mile from January through June 2026. Employers are not required by federal law to use the IRS rate, and many set their own, so check your company policy. Your normal commute from home to your regular workplace does not count as business mileage. Keep a mileage log with the date, destination and purpose of each trip.
