Every truck roll has a cost before any parts are used. Enter your labor, travel, vehicle and overhead costs to find the minimum you need to charge for a call.
How it is calculated
- Cost of the call = loaded labor cost × (on-site hours + travel hours) + vehicle cost + overhead
- Minimum price = cost of the call ÷ (1 − target margin ÷ 100)
Worked example
With the starting values shown in the calculator:
- Loaded labor cost per hour: $45.00
- On-site hours: 1.5
- Travel hours: 0.75
- Vehicle cost per call: $18.00
- Overhead per call: $35.00
- Target profit margin: 20%
- Cost of the call: $154.25
- Minimum price: $192.81
- Profit at that price: $38.56
Using the result
To estimate overhead per call, divide your monthly overhead (office staff, rent, insurance, software, marketing) by the number of calls you run in a month. The price is divided by one minus the margin, not multiplied by the margin, so that the profit is the stated share of the final price.
